The impressive Troodos Mountain Range stretches across most of the western side of Cyprus, offering cool sanctuary & idyllic hours spent in long walks in its scented pine forests in summer, & between January &March it snows on the top peaks enabling skiing in winter.

For those who are not into skiing, it is still a beautiful place to visit throughout the year, as the mountain range has so much for you to see & do.

The scenery is incredible & there are several lovely cafes & restaurants to choose from if you do not want to pack a picnic, but there are beautiful picnic areas with tables & benches, where you can enjoy the incredible scenery.  You will also find several delightful shops, including gift shops for you to browse.

For the ski enthusiasts, there are ten ski runs & several cross-county trails, which are suitable for beginners, intermediates & advanced skiers, & there are equipment hire shops & a ski school.

The ski center is a 90-minute drive from Tala & during March you can ski in the Troodos Mountains in the morning & relax on the beach in the afternoon.  How perfect is that?

The area has been known since ancient times for its copper mines, & in the Byzantine period it became a great center of Byzantine art, as churches & monasteries were built in the mountains, away from the threatened coastline.  Today there are 9 churches & monasteries within walking distance of each other you can visit.
